recognisably Cotton Mather style, instant & catchy as hell. Others veer
purposely into more experimental areas and these tracks often give the
bigger thrills. All in all a pretty essential release!) 15.00

this talented oddball. Craig Ross guests again and Juliana Hatfield helps
out. Musically, it's as diverse as This Euphoria and comes with

GENERAL STORE - Local Honey (US Not Lame '02. Debut album from Tam
Johnstone (Ex- Green Tambourines along with Rick Corcoran & the Orgone
Box). Tam's album is full of musical tastes served up with style and a
knowing classiness. Obvious influences are Neil Young, CSN&Y, Beatles
Byrds etc but that's not unique. The key thing is to distill & produce
something fresh which Tam manages with room to spare.) 6.00
GINGER - Far Out (Canada Nettwerk. First full length offering with
more gorgeous songs and a rootsy approach & production. Highly recommended

GINGERSOL - Nothing Stops Moving (US Idea Prone '00. Out of the scene
for a long while and now back with one of last year's very best. Superb
vocals, excellent songs sometimes like a beefier Elliot Smith mixed with
an earthy Wilco-ish feel. Very highly recommended!) £8.00
GINGERSOL - Eastern (US Idea Prone '04. Most recent album and continuing

GOLDEN ROUGH Provenance (Aussi Candle/Laughing Outlaw 02. Knockout
2nd album by this excellent Australian country-pop outfit.
Its a beautifully atmospheric slow-glide of an album, with exquisite
vocals & harmonies & wistful in a distinctly Pernice Brothers
kind of way. Very highly recommended!) 10.00
GORDON - s/t (US Fifty Seven/Sony '99. Fine upbeat high nrg rocky
pop from the same division that brought us Michael Penn's MP4. Don't know
much about this band but they're well worth checking out) 5.00

Just as we're crawling out of Megan's Bed, dishevelled and delirious,
here comes another to tingle the nerve endings. Mixing the usual ingredients
of 60s trippy psychedelia, dreamy Beatles, & sweet folky melodies with
piercing ethereal guitars, slow motion phrasing & perfect harmonies into
a heady brew uniquely their own, Seven Fathoms is possibly their finest
yet! It's a close call...) 8.00
GREEN PAJAMAS - Ghosts of Love (US Get Hip '00. Welcome reissue
of this great album from '89. All the familiar GPs trademarks are here

THE GUTHRIES
- st (UK Circus 65 '02.If you were lucky enough to get their first
offering - the superb Off Windmill, you're in for another treat
with this excellent follow-up. Don't be fooled into thinking this is just
another country band; with three individual singer/songwriters, one of
which is in the Heavy Blinkers, The Guthries serve up an eclectic mix
of styles to please all, pop fans included. Highly recommended!) 8.00
THE GUTHRIES - Off Windmill (US Brobdingnagian 00. Two members of
the Heavy Blinkers contribute to this excellent album, M/F vocals and
a Jayhawks/Son Volt take on alt.country-pop. Very nice indeed.) 8.00
