THINLAND
- Tracing The Cracks (US Ashland Network '02. Earnest vocals round
some infectious folk rock songs with violins. Sounds very interesting
on first hearing!) 8.00
THORNS - s/t (Matthew Sweet, Pete Droge and Shawn Mullins combine
for some polished harmony pop, most likened to a latter day CSN&Y.
Includes a Jayhawks cover, which is nice.) 5.00
JEREMY TOBACK - Perfect Flux Thing (US RCA '97 coh) 4.00
TORIES - Wonderful Life (US N2K Encoded '97. Questionable name for
a band, & I won't be wearing their T-shirts, but fortunately the music
is classy Jellyfish/Sloan style accomplished Pop) 8.00
TROLLEYVOX - Ephemera For The Future (US Groove Disques '99) 6.00
TROLLEVOX - Leap Of Folly (US Groove Disques '03) 6.00
TUBETOP - Three Minute Hercules (US '97. Musberger & Fox
from the Posies are the rhythm section in this one off(?) project.
Touches of the Posies for sure and other good things too) 8.00
DWIGHT TWILLEY - Tulsa (UK When '99.) 6.00
DWIGHT TWILLEY - Between the Cracks Vol 1 (UK When '99. 16 tracks
to please his legions of fans - this is an "Archaeological dig"
through Mr. T's long career.) 6.00
ULTIMATE FAKEBOOK - Before we Spark (US Initial '03) 5.00
GEORGE USHER - Dutch April (Sweden '98. Excellent follow-up, great
melodies.) 8.00
GEORGE USHER - Days Of Plenty (Parasol '01. Great) 8.00
VELVET CRUSH - In The Presence of Greatness (US Action Musik
'01.Great first album remastered with bonus tracks, although it must be
pointed these bonus tracks are also on A Single Odessey!? Matthew
Sweet produced and played.) 8.00
VELVET CRUSH - Heavy Changes (US Action Musik. '98. Have to
say it doesn't come up to the previous, in my opinion - more pub- rocky
with some excellent songs here and there. Still essential if you're a
fan) 8.00
VINYL KINGS - A Little Trip (US VK '03. Extremely Beatles-y melodic
catchy pop with impeccable arrangements & playing) 6.00
(CVS) THE SPORTSMEN - Spirited (US Kool Kat '02. Chris Von Sneidern's
side project doing some soul, funk & rock n roll. Includes some covers)
8.00
CHRIS VON SNEIDERN - The Knight Of Lines And Proses (Spain Criminal

BUTCH WALKER - Left of Self Centered (US Arista '02 coh) 5.00
JASON WALKER - Stranger to Someone (Australia Laughing Outlaw
'01. Produced by Michael Carpenter) 5.00
WANDERLUST - Prize (US RCA. Another truly great band. Prize is a masterpiece
of melodic delight & a '95 fave. Blazing guitar breaks, gorgeous arrangements
and superb songs. OK, these descriptions start to sound hollow at the
end of a list, but damned if I know how else to describe them! If you
come to the shop I'll play them for you & you can hear for yourselves,
for now you've only got my highest recommendation. Long deleted now and
getting tough to find) 12.00
STEVE WARD - Opening Night (US Lucky '00. Here's a late contender
for album of the year. One that immediately joins the ranks of Owsley,
Adam Daniel, Michael Penn and Matthew Sweet. Which is to say, totally
essential! Sometimes sounding like a delicious blend of Falkner, Sweet
and Elliott Smith, this solo debut from the Cherry Twister frontman,
shows a more mature, amazingly crafted edge yet retains that winning "good-feel"
spirit of the previous albums. Gorgeous songs sung exquisitely & recommended
about as high as it can go.) 12.00
WAYNE - Music On Plastic (US TVT '02. Warm and vibrant production,
effortless and masterful playing and great songs make Wayne a new band
to admire more than somewhat. In Rodney Reaves, Wayne have a songwriter
to match the likes of Don McGlashan, Gary Louris and Dan Wilson in terms
of quality and depth. Highly recommended!) 8.00
WEIRD SUMMER - Cry For the Moon (US Parasol first two LPs from a few
years back on 1 CD & a touch basic compared to next, but worthy) 6.00
WELL WISHERS - How I Won the War ( US '07. Excellent album, Spinning
Jennies related, in a Posies, Matthew Sweet vein) 10.00
THE WHEREABOUTS - Pop Filter (Canada Invisible Ink '01. Powerful stuff
from Canadian band, at times like Tsar or Marvelous 3, with high erg,
big riff power pop. Other times more introspective. Recommended!) 6.00
WILLARD GRANT
CONSPIRACY - Everything's fine (Slow
River '00. New one out now which I haven't got round to listening to,
but you can read the reviews) 8.00
KELLY WILLIS - What I Deserve (US Rykodisc '99.) 5.00
MATT WILSON - Burnt White & Blue (US Planetmaker '98. This excellent
album by ex-Trip Shakespearean features his brother, Dan and all
of Semisonic. Trickier & less straight ahead Pop than Semisonic, but
captivating stuff, nonetheless.) 8.00
WIND JAMMER - Where it's at With the Wind (Excellent reissue of vintage
early 80's LP & EP with unreleased live tracks from '83) 5.00
WONDERMINTS - Bali (UK Sanctuary '00) 6.00

and similar tunesmiths, if you like thoughtful lyrics well steeped in
melancholy, this does the trick very nicely and is highly recommended)
